KING COONIE ISLAND
What does a raccoon need to get up high - a crane!
What does a crane manufacturer need to get beautiful pictures - Albert Coon.
A perfect symbiosis.
The organization and planning of the project from Germany already gave us an idea of what we would be facing on site - Greek mentality!
More than booking flights was not possible. Cameras, technology and a lot of hope packed, we went to Chania in the northwest of the island for the next content production.
As expected, we were warmly welcomed by Yannis Liakopoulos in the sunshine and could now make first plans for the next days.
When we arrived at the Marnelakis company the next morning and everyone had finished greeting each other, half of the team had already left. Spontaneous deployment at the harbour. Every hour our plans for the next days were thrown on the heap and we had to use the situations quickly and spontaneously to get our pictures.
The biggest question mark, however, was on the interviews. Nobody really wanted to be in front of the camera and the youngest of the three brothers refused completely.
It took three whole days, nice evenings with great food, lots of drinks and good conversations until we had everybody on our side and we could shoot the last interviews shortly before departure to Munich.
At the end of the day it was always chaotic, but the Marnelakis family always made everything possible.
You could see that they are really the kings of the island.
Big thanks also to Yannis, who played the producer, interpreter and protagonist for us.
The raccoon is used to long days, little sleep and therefore no problem. Otherwise you could also book flamingos.
On the plane home we already knew what we had in our luggage and therefore the anticipation of the cut was great.
Three very nice films came out, impressive photos incl. text for the story. All in raccoon handwriting.
